Galicyjskie Spotkania z Origami

 

Każda pora dnia jest dobra na składanie!

Galician* Group of Origami (GGO) was created in 2000.

The artists cooperated with the group in 2002-2012 (in alphabetical order): Ada Zawadzka, Barbara Pfützner, Elżbieta Udziela, Grzegorz Bubniak, Halina Rościszewska-Narloch, Izabela Ralska, Krystyna Burczyk, Teresa Kowal, Tomasz Siwak, Wojciech Bogacz, Wojciech Burczyk.

The main objective of GGO is promoting contemporary art of paper folding, organizing meetings and conferences, supporting personal development group members.

The group organizes Galician Origami Meetings (GSO).
The group meets once a month (usually at the second Sunday of a month) in Krakow. The meeting were held in the Center of Japanese Art and Science Manggha, then in Dworek Bialopradnicki, and now in the origami studio at city center. There was 100th meeting on January 2010.
The group organizes an all-day origami picnic once a year summertime.
Four times a year members of the group give a workshop at the library for children and teenagers.

Every year since 2002 GGO organizes the international Outdoor Origami Meeting (Plener Origami), the Polish origami convention. There are a convention exhibition and a convention book (diagrams, materials for teachers, short papers about origami) at the meeting. The Outdoor Origami Meeting in 2012 was the 11th meeting in GGO history.
There are usually 35-60 participants of the convention. In the period of 2002-2012 the meeting was attended by over 50 foreign guests, many of them a few times.

Since 2003 we publish the electronic newsletter Galician Bulletin of Origami (GBO) (sent by mail to those who wants to receive this newsletter). Bulletin contains information about future meetings, Twirl Gallery, reports from conferences, exhibitions and workshops in Poland and in the world, a calendar of events related to origami. There were 68 issues in 2003-2012. You may find archive issues on www.origami.edu.pl and www.origami.friko.pl

In 2000 the group organized the exhibition "Origami - Tradition and Modernity" in collaboration with the 1st High School in Bochnia and Center of Japanese Art and Technology Manggha in Krakow.
Members of the group organized an exhibition of their work in libraries and cultural centers (Krakow, Gliwice).

Members of GGO participated in national conferences (KOTE) and abroad (Hungary, Germany, Spain, USA **) and in the origami camps (Hungary).
